The Application Process Timeline

The qualification evaluation timeframe from the date of application submittal typically takes 6-8 weeks.

After receiving an application at one of the Housing Application Meetings, prospective homeowners will be given about a month to fill it out. Applications must be returned by the specified date to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth, P.O. Box 346, Carver, MA 02330.  For the 47 Indian Avenue project, the application deadline is November 1, 2023.

About 2-3 weeks after applications are returned, the Family Selection Committee will call to arrange for a home visit to interview the applicants and to inspect the current housing situation. We ask prospective homeowners to make reasonable arrangements for scheduling. The Family Selection Committee will review and verify all the information on the applications. All qualified applicants are then entered into a lottery for random selection. All applicants will be notified verbally and in writing of the outcome. If families wish to apply for future Habitat homes, they must fill out an updated application.

Please be aware that Habitat is building a limited number of houses and cannot nearly satisfy all of the housing needs in Greater Plymouth.

Our Homes

We build simple, decent quality, affordable homes.

Habitat homes are designed to fit the architecture and landscape of the neighborhood as well as the zoning requirements of the town.

A typical Habitat home approximately 1200-1300 square feet and has three bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a dining area/living room. One-story homes have one bathroom and two-story homes have one and a half bathrooms. Homes come equipped with a new stove and refrigerator. The homes are energy-efficient, with solar when possible, and are designed to be low-maintenance, as much as possible.

All homes can be built to accommodate people with disabilities according to ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act).

Our homes are built under the direction of a licensed Site Supervisor according to the Massachusetts Building Code Regulation.

The typical home can take up to eight to twelve months to complete.
