Donate Your Car in Greater Plymouth

Donating a car is one of the most impactful, and easiest, ways to support affordable housing in our community. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth's Cars for Homes vehicle donation program accepts cars, trucks, RVs, boats, and motorcycles, running or not. Towing is free! Your donation may also qualify for a tax deduction.

Every vehicle donated to Cars for Homes in Carver, Kingston, Lakeville, Middleborough, Plymouth, and Plympton generates funding that goes directly toward building and repairing affordable homes for families right here in our area.

Q: What is the process for donating my car to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth?

You can donate your car in 4 simple steps:

1. Go to our online donation wizard or call 1-877-277-4344.
2. Provide your vehicle information and contact information.
3. Schedule your donation pickup.  
4. Receive your tax documentation after your vehicle is sold.

Q: Can I donate a vehicle that does not run?

Yes! Your vehicle does not need to be running in order to donate it, but must be whole and have four inflated tires so it can be moved by our towing operators.

Please note: We review each donation to ensure it benefits Habitat for Humanity. If transportation and processing costs exceed the vehicle’s value, we may decline the donation to avoid a financial loss. This decision is based solely on economic factors – not on donor location or willingness to give – and helps us responsibly manage resources.


Q: Is towing/pickup free?

Yes, towing and pick-up is completely free. 


Q: What type of vehicle can I donate?

We accept almost all vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, farm equipment and construction equipment. To start your donation, please go to our donation wizard or call our toll-free number at 1-877-277-4344. If you want to donate any other type of unique vehicle, please start by reaching out via phone.


Q: How long does the process to donate my vehicle take, from form submission to pickup?

In general, from the point of accepted submission, a donor should expect to be contacted by a tow driver within 1 to 3 business days. Donors will then coordinate a time that works best for their own schedule and that is mutually beneficial. 


Q: Is donating a car tax deductible in Massachusetts?

Yes. Habitat for Humanity is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions, including vehicle donations, may be claimed as deductions on your federal tax return, if you itemize.

Q: What information do I need to donate my car in Massachusetts?

Here are some basic things you should be prepared to know and provide for the donation:

• Valid vehicle title, free of liens
• Year, make and model
• VIN
• Body type
• Mileage
• Condition
• Date the vehicle was last driven

Q: What happens to my vehicle after my vehicle donation is accepted?

Advanced Remarketing Services, our authorized processing agent, will sell your vehicle on behalf of Habitat for Humanity through a national network of auctions and direct buyers.  
After your vehicle has been sold, you will receive an acknowledgement letter providing your vehicle’s sale information.  


Q: What are the environmental benefits of donating my vehicle to Habitat?

Donating your vehicle to Cars for Homes is a win for the community and the environment.  

When you donate a vehicle to Cars for Homes, it is assessed so it can be put to its best and highest use. Some vehicles—particularly those at the end of their life—are directed to licensed auto recyclers, who carefully and responsibly recover usable materials in ways that help protect our planet. For those vehicles that are recycled, up to 86% of their materials can be reclaimed, reused, or recovered, reducing waste and conserving natural resources.
