Donating Materials

We accept most small appliances and they should be new/less than 1 years old, clean, in 100% working order with no missing parts. We will test them when they are brought in and if they do not work, we will return them to you.  Please include any owners' manuals if you have them, as they add value to your donation.  We are not accepting dishwashers or mounted microwaves.
 

This is one of the few exceptions to only accepting new items. Used and New How To / Self-help books, tapes, CDs and DVDs are welcome as many times a homeowner needs the reference material for a specific project and the information is recyclable. An example would be a How To on repairing a hole in a wall.
 

We will only be taking new, not previously installed items will be accepted. Damaged items will be accepted provided the damage is not severe or would require extensive work to utilize. Do not have the space to accommodate used items of this sort.

We will be accepting New, in the box with all parts, including hanging/ceiling box bracket, style reasonably up to date with energy use rating indicated.
 

We will accept NEW, All types of ceiling tile. No pieces, water damage, or other damage or deterioration. Product must be in original packaging marked with either manufacture date or containing the words "no asbestos" OR written and signed statement required from the donor giving where and approximately when item was purchased new. Product MUST also have been manufactured after 1980. Ceiling tiles products manufactured prior to 1980 will not be accepted.

Ceiling Tile Grid Pieces & supports: New, Full lengths, no damage, no rust; white color only.

We will only be accepting New ceramic tile, clean, not outdated, boxed for transport if pick up.
 

We accept New doors pre-hung or door slabs, exterior or interior without cracks or missing panes. Any glass door must have all of the hardware and not be cracked or fogged in any way. We will also accept Bi-fold doors.
 

Joint Compound (Mud) —New, unopened, and not expired.

Tape —Clean and dry, never damp. Partial rolls accepted.

Corner Bead —Full, undamaged sticks; if rolled, partial rolls accepted.

We accept New / not previously installed residential items only such as rough electrical items, residential grade conduit, breakers, boxes, lights, doorbells, faceplates, light bulbs (EnergyStar preferred) telephone / cable accessories, outdoor lighting security lighting, small telecommunications devices such as radios, telephones, etc. Pre-cut, not used, electrical wire will be accepted as well.
 

Nails — Sorted and labeled by type and size, boxed or sacked, no rust. If not in original packaging, must be 1 pound worth or greater.

Screws — Sorted and labeled by type and size, boxed or sacked, no rust. If not in original packaging, must be 1 pound worth or greater.

We accept New / not previously installed residential items such as carpet, carpet padding, carpet associated sundries, tile and associated sundries sufficient to do at least a 10 ft by 10 ft area in a matching pattern and product; wood flooring and associated sundries to do at least a 10 ft by 10 ft area in a matching pattern and product. Products for cleaning and repairing flooring (non-toxic and non-flammable) are also welcome. Sub-flooring is also accepted in full 2 ft by 2 ft or standard “hardback” sizes. Wall tile and associated sundries may, from time to time, be accepted as well.

Door Locks and Knobs —fully functional with all parts, packaged/sacked individually.

Hinges —all types, must have all parts.

Miscellaneous —should be specifically sorted and boxed/sacked, clean, operable, no rust.

Lumber in good condition from old home deconstruction, remodeling or demolition provided it passes inspection for reuse by a member of the store before delivery or pickup. Old trim and ornamental work may also be accepted upon inspection.

No pick ups from individuals (drop off only).

Businesses must sign Charitable Donation Agreement: Paint and Potentially Hazardous Materials before pick up and include MSDS sheets, if available.

Quarts & Gallons —Containers must be full and meet the above requirements.

5 gallon Buckets — Containers must be full and meet the above requirements.

Spray Paint —Container must be full (new), nozzle functions, and agitator ball rattles freely.

We will accept all residential use plumbing supplies and fittings.

• No bathtubs or shower stalls / shower doors unless the item is specifically on a project list and can be delivered directly to the site.
• No garbage disposals

We accept:

• New shingles, full bundles only
• Rolls of roofing material
• Roofing gutter materials in full pieces – no rust or damage

Wooden —interior or exterior, New, in good shape with no damage.

Vinyl —New, in good condition, no damage or brittleness.

We accept new and previously used hand tools are acceptable provided they are in a ready-to-use condition – for example, a hand saw with dull teeth would not be accepted but the same saw with sharp teeth would be.
 

We accept new hand and table power tools are acceptable provided they are designed for the home owner / do it yourself type of consumer. Industrial / commercial grade tools normally would not be appropriate unless the Affiliate (HFHGP) has a specific need to be used with home construction.
 

New hand and rechargeable battery power tools such as rakes, shovels, trimmers, snow shovels are acceptable provided they are designed for the home owner / do it yourself type of consumer. No GAS Powered tools will be accepted unless the Affiliate (HFHGP) has a specific need to be used with home construction.
